The Gospel and New Life

Why Were We Created?

God created us to know Him, love Him, and glorify Him. Life finds its greatest purpose when it is lived for God.

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever.”
Romans 11:36

Yet something has broken our fellowship with God.

The Problem of Sin

Sin is our failure to meet God’s holy standard. Every person has sinned and stands guilty before God.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

Sin separates us from God, and no amount of good works or religion can remove our guilt.

God’s Great Love

God loves us and provided the only solution to our sin problem through His Son, Jesus Christ.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

Jesus lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again so that we might be forgiven and have eternal life.

Salvation Is God’s Gift

Salvation is not earned. It is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God, not of works.”
Ephesians 2:8-9

God calls us to repent of our sin and place our trust in Christ alone.

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9

Can I Know That I Am Saved?

God desires His children to have assurance. Our assurance rests upon God’s promises, Christ’s finished work, and the evidence of spiritual growth.

“These things I have written to you… that you may know that you have eternal life.”
1 John 5:13

Believers are not perfect, but God is faithful.

“He who believes in Me has everlasting life.”
John 6:47

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Why Baptism Matters

Baptism is the first act of obedience after salvation. It does not save us but publicly identifies us with Jesus Christ.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them…”
Matthew 28:19

Why We Baptize by Immersion

Immersion pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Because baptism follows salvation, we practice believer’s baptism by immersion.

“We were buried with Him through baptism into death… that we also should walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4

The Lord’s Supper

Jesus gave the Lord’s Supper to His church as a reminder of His sacrifice.

“Do this in remembrance of Me.”
1 Corinthians 11:24

The bread and cup symbolize Christ’s body and blood. Communion reminds us of Christ’s sacrifice, God’s grace, our unity in Christ, and the promise of His return.

Key Truth: Following Christ begins with a relationship, not religion. Salvation is God’s gift, and baptism is our public testimony that we belong to Him.
