Growing as a Disciple

Salvation is not the end of the Christian life—it is the beginning. God desires every believer to grow in grace and become more like Jesus Christ.

“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 3:18

Discipleship is the lifelong process of following Christ and learning to obey Him.

Growing Through God’s Word

God uses Scripture to teach, strengthen, and transform us. Daily Bible reading and study help us know God and apply His truth to our lives.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God… that the man of God may be complete.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Growing Through Prayer

Prayer is our privilege and our expression of dependence upon God. Through prayer we praise God, give thanks, confess sin, intercede for others, and bring our requests before Him.

“Men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”
Luke 18:1

Growing Through Fellowship

God never intended believers to walk alone. He uses other believers to encourage us, pray for us, hold us accountable, and help us grow.

“They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship.”
Acts 2:42

Growing Through Obedience

Obedience does not earn God’s love. It is the response of those who love Him. As we obey God’s Word, we experience greater joy and spiritual maturity.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
John 14:15

Growing Through Trials

God often uses difficulties to strengthen our faith. Even in difficult seasons, God is working for our good and His glory.

“The testing of your faith produces patience.”
James 1:3

Finding Your Place in Ministry

God has designed every believer to serve. At Ridgemont Baptist Church, we believe every member is a minister.

“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another.”
1 Peter 4:10

Saved to Serve

Serving Christ is not a burden but a privilege. God has created His people for good works and has given every believer a place in the body of Christ.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.”
Ephesians 2:10

How God Prepares Us for Ministry

God uses spiritual gifts, life experiences, abilities, skills, and passions to prepare His people for ministry. Nothing in the life of a believer is wasted when placed in the hands of God.

Discovering Where to Serve

As you consider where God may be leading you to serve, ask yourself:

  • What do I enjoy doing?
  • What needs do I see?
  • What abilities has God given me?
  • Where have others encouraged me?
  • Am I willing to serve wherever God opens the door?

Faithfulness often leads to greater opportunities.

Opportunities to Serve at Ridgemont

There are many ways to serve, including worship ministry, children’s ministry, youth ministry, teaching, greeters and hospitality, prayer ministry, outreach and missions, technology and media, and service ministries.

Every ministry matters because every act of service brings glory to God.

Ministry Flows Out of Relationship

Serving Christ should flow out of our relationship with Him. Our goal is not simply to stay busy, but to remain close to Jesus and serve Him faithfully.

“I am the vine, you are the branches… without Me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5
Key Truth: God desires every believer to grow spiritually and use the gifts He has given for the building up of His church and the glory of Christ.
